After Harry's story I thought I would post something a little lighter as we are heading to Sydney for the weekend and I'm not sure how I will organise to post except to schedule in advance. It is Saturday morning now.
A note - I've been up late every night captivated by all the posts written by my fellow bloggers for the FanstRAvaganza. It has been a wonderful experience so a big THANK YOU to all of you and to everyone who has visited here in the past week.
This post is related to the flowers at Geraldine and Harry's wedding. I will need the advice from anyone who is a horticulturalist or knows anything about flowers but those of us who may not have a green thumb can guess.
Some background.
There was a wonderful character in the first series series called Letitia Cropley (played by Liz Smith). Mrs Cropley was notorious for her experimentation with cooking and was affectionately known as "The Dibley Poisoner". She was also responsible for the flower arrangements in Church and would often add a vegetable or fruit to her formal decorations. Here she is doing the flowers for the "Songs of Praise" episode - note the orange, and rhubarb (?) leaf in her hand. I'm not sure what the silver item is - it looks fish shaped .... nothing would be a surprise for Dibley Parish!
Harry and Geraldine's wedding - floral arrangements.
Owen volunteered to do the flowers and catering for Geraldine and Harry's wedding. Geraldine from bitter past experience has a fairly good idea what to expect, for Owen served her tripe to eat one Christmas and Mrs Cropley (who died one Easter in a moving but also funny Easter Special) is remembered with great fondness in the Village.
Here are one or two questions for you ......
1. How many pieces of fruit and vegetables can you see in this screencap?
2. What flower is that in Harry's buttonhole ... or is it a flower?
Did anyone pick up that Harry's wedding buttonhole is unusual? I was wondering what Owen actually chose for Harry to wear..... Look closely at the leaves.
