You never know what you will see in Newcastle Harbour! I am not sure what species of turtle this is - any help in identification would be appreciated.

After seeing the Pasha Bulker sitting on Nobbys Beach for 3 weeks, the failed attempt at pulling her off last Thursday when cables snapped, and the aborted attempt 2 nights ago when there was a suspected oil leakage, Jenny and I were very tense last night as we sat on the headland above King Edward Park where this photo was taken. This shot was taken earlier in the day and you can see the tugs lined up ready to pull the Pasha off the reef. The bow of the ship had been pulled around from the beach to point out to sea the previous night. We waited and waited and still there was no movement. We knew the high tide was about 9:40pm but as that time rolled around we were preparing to again be disappointed. Then she moved and then some more and then 5 minutes later she was being towed out to sea.
Now we can have Nobbys back, and Jenny can have her morning walk back.
I have found a link to The Newcastle Herald and have referenced it on the sidebar. You can visit this to check local new stories.....mainly all about the Pasha...but there are good aerial shots of her on the beach not to mention the actual scenery...my morning walk for instance...the one I can't take because of her presence.
Our morning walk had a different perspective today. Trees are down, powerlines are across roads and the huge freighter "Pasha Bulker" is sitting on Nobby's beach which is my regular walking track. Definitely not a day to drive - I will stay indoors, blog (which I haven't done for months!) and make some good soup! Will hopefully put some photos up in the album soon. View album here or sidebar"

Hats off to the University of Newcastle for an excellent graduation ceremony. Just the right mix of pomp and tradition surrounded by a truly warm family-friendly atmosphere. Getting that balance right is no small achievement. Top marks all round and of course congratulations to the young man in the photo receiving his Bachelor of Science (Photonics).
