Walking on my day off

Nobbys It was a beautiful day for walking - warm but there is a slight autumnal chill in the air in the mornings. Perfect for a lovely solitary walk along Nobbys. It can't get much better than this!

US election on SBS

I'm currently watching (half listening) to the Jim Lehrer News Hour on SBS. Hilary Clinton and Barack Obama have both made appearances - Hilary delivering a campaign speech and Obama explaining himself out of what appears to be a sticky situation on a Press Conference. I'm used to a comparatively staid election campaign style in Australia so Hilary's speech reminded me of those TV evangelists as she held a radio mike and moved about a stage. Before I receive cross comments from people in the US, (as I did after making a comment last election campaign), I need to clarify that I am very ignorant of the US election process and am just giving my own impression of what I see on TV. I haven't watched enough of Obama to make any observations yet. It will be interesting to see how everything eventuates. The process appears to be like a Bi-election over here but much much bigger. Democrats seem to be in with a chance...... will it be Obama or Clinton???

On the net

Started this morning doing some end of month financial bits and pieces which involved paying bills online, balancing bank statements and paying a tax bill via the ATO portal. By the end of the session my eyesight had given up on me.....a sign of old age when you have to remove your glasses (for distance vision) to read small print on a bill and then squint at the computer screen. I'm still not that old... well not really... .but I am finding it hard to read BPay numbers and reference numbers of 6 digits and more. Some of the ref. numbers are 10 digits long. How do people who are more senior than me cope?

My next vent is passwords..... the trouble with internet is you need a variety of passwords to protect your privacy. I think we number about 50 or so it seems!!! Never write them down, people say... well how are we supposed to remember them all....write them down in a password protected file... too bad if you forget the password.? My workplace requires a minimum of 6 passwords to access various programs also. At some stage I am going to get totally confused (better said) I do use incorrect passwords fwhen I try to enter some sites). Is it just me or does anyone else have these issues?

I'm having trouble seeing what I've written here as the type is too small....will have to ask typepad how to enlarge the fonts for posting. Does anyone know?

Welcome swallows return

Welcome_swallow
Welcome Swallows have paid a return visit to the Nobbys Foreshore Park ("Pasha Park"). I can't remember them visiting this early before...maybe a sign of the cooler weather we have been experiencing? Are they migrating earlier?

In other news from this part of the world, Sydney celebrates 30 years of Mardi Gras.

I received an email today from an old friend (better said, friend from old school days) who will be visiting Sydney in May and wants to catch up. I haven't seen this man since 1971 when we sat next to one another in class in Madrid. We shall see if we actually manage to organise a meet up!
